ṭhākura kahe, — "aiche bāt kahite nā yuyāya

āmi — nīca-jāti, tumi — susajjana rāya"

SYNONYMS

ṭhākura kaheJhaḍu Ṭhākura said; aiche bāt — such a request; kahite yuyāya — should not be spoken; āmiI; nīca-jāti — coming from a family of a very low caste; tumi — you; su-sat-jana rāya — very respectable and rich gentleman.

TRANSLATION

Jhaḍu Ṭhākura replied, "It does not befit you to ask this of me. I belong to a very low-caste family, whereas you are a respectable rich gentleman."
